This Fall Thicken Your Lawn! Fairfield Lawn Care Blog

Fairfield County lawn lovers pay attention… The Summer weather, kids, and pets was probably tough on your lawn. Lack of water, too much heat, wear & tear, and other problems can make it look worn and thin by the end of the Summer. Great news! Neverdousky Brothers Lawn Care Fairfield is offering a solution to your lawn woes! Now, you can help reinvigorate your Fairfield County lawn by overseeding. Here in CT, spring and fall give you the ideal conditions for cool-season grass seed: cooler temperatures and more moisture. We can help provide lawn care such as over-seeding to your Fairfield area lawn. Here’s how we over seed your lawn:

  1. We Choose the Best Seed for Your Area. Have sun? shade?
Choose a highest quality grass seed that works for your location. Here in Fairfield County, a cool-season grass mix, like Scotts® Turf Builder® Sun & Shade Mix® is a versatile mix. There are also cool season mixes available for shade, high traffic, and sunny areas to help rejuvenate your Fairfield lawn. Scotts® Turf Builder® Heat-Tolerant Blue® Mix is great if you live in the northern transition zone. It’s a blend of tall fescue and Scotts® patented Thermal Blue® Kentucky bluegrass that has been bred to withstand heat and drought. We will select just the right type of grass for the over-seeding process to help create a lush, green, Fairfield County lawn that will develop throughout the fall and also provide an early, strong start in the Spring of the following year.
  2. Next, We Prepare the Area
Before overseeding your lawn, we will mow the lawn short and bag the clippings. This will allow the seed to come into contact with the soil when you spread it.
  3. We will Now Apply Seed
We use a professional grade spreader to apply the seed. When you’re done, it’s essential to give the seeds a good soaking to get them growing! We will lay sprinklers and advise homeowner to water daily for a few days.
  4. Water!
When we’re done spreading the seed, it’s essential to water your lawn to get your seeds growing. Mist your lawn frequently, once or twice per day, until the new seedlings have reached the height of your existing lawn.
  5. Mowing
We will then continue to mow your lawn as needed, but suggest homeowner try to limit the activity on the lawn until your new seedlings have reached a mowing height.
